Document Processing

People retype information that arrived as a document.

An invoice arrives, someone reads it, someone types it into a system. Several hundred times a month.

You will recognise this if

  • A person opens a PDF and types its contents into another screen.
  • Errors are caught downstream, by someone else, at a much higher cost.
  • Volume grows with the business, so headcount grows with it.
  • The process has a defined set of fields and a defined set of exceptions.

How we approach it

  • Count the volume and the error rate today. Without a baseline there is no way to prove improvement later.
  • Separate the structured majority from the messy exceptions. They need different solutions.
  • Automate the structured path deterministically, and route exceptions to a human with the context already assembled.
  • Set a confidence threshold below which nothing is posted without review.
The honest version. If your document formats change constantly, or if you receive fewer than a few hundred a month, the maintenance will cost more than the saving. We will show you that arithmetic before you commit.
